Singapore is a rapidly developing design destination. To celebrate the city-state’s dynamic, creative spirit, DesignSingapore Council announces Singapore + Wallpaper* Handmade Classics, a showcase of original, one-off pieces and unique design collaborations commissioned by Wallpaper* and created by internationally renowned talents.
The exhibition’s ‘MultipliCITY’ theme acknowledges Singapore’s heritage of adaptability, versatility, diversity and invention. About Singapore Design Week
The fourth edition of Singapore Design Week (SDW) will be held from 3 to 12 March 2017. The annual SDW brings together a collection of local and international design activities. Organised by the DesignSingapore Council, the event is open to the design community, businesses, design students, public sector officers and the general public, and aims to raise awareness of good design, deepen the appreciation and understanding of design innovation and encourage the use of design for change and productivity.
Through the SDW platform, the Council also hopes to enhance the synergy among its design partners, and in turn boost Singapore’s profile and attractiveness as an international hub for design.
Following the announcement last year of Design 2025 – Singapore by Design masterplan, the Council is gearing up for an even more exciting SDW 2017 as it embarks on a new chapter, using design to take Singapore to the next level. Singapore will not only be a liveable city but also a loveable city. The vision of Design 2025 is for Singapore to be a thriving innovation-driven economy and a desirable place to live, work and visit, by design. Singapore companies will become adept at reinventing themselves to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Using design as a strategic tool, they will be able to create new businesses, new opportunities and new jobs. Singapore’s residents and visitors alike will enjoy services as well as user and customer experiences that are people-centered.
By 2025, the Singapore community will also embrace the use of design and actively participate in co-creating its living environment. This, in turn, will cultivate a stronger sense of belonging and develop an endearing home for all. Visit www.designsingapore.org for more information.
